Game Caviar — Dashboard
Dates: July-August 2024 | Role: UX/Product Designer
Goal
The goal was to create a clean and simple home/dashboard screen for game developer users, enabling them to log into their account, view projects, RFPs, actions and team information. Erin-Marie designed the dashboard to show a summary at the top and an interactive table view of all Projects and RFPs. This allowed developers to filter and engage right away on their summary screen, edit or create an RFP, and send a message to a service provider.
Process
With feedback from partners and game developers, Erin-Marie and the team were able to filter through options to create an optimal dashboard design.
In total, five screens were created:
Home (Summary/Dashboard)
Home with Open Table
Create an RFP window on Home screen
Send a Message window on Home screen
Search Results module on Developer List page
Flows & Journey
Initially, a summary dashboard, with little interactivity, and links out to separate Project and RFPs screens, was proposed. After carefully accessing the user behavior and goals, and working closely with the product team, Erin-Marie designed a robust dashboard home page with a sortable table and increased functionality. The user could stay on the home screen, find the information and take actions without leaving to another page. The following actions were:
View Summary: Projects, RFPs, Actions, Team
View all projects
View all RFPs
Edit projects
Edit or create RFPs
Send or respond to a message
Challenges
Two challenges arose. One was fitting all imminent information in a single table. This required deciphering what was essential and removing data that wasn’t, such as Start Date.
The other challenge was to figure out how to keep this messaging system separate from the other site-wide messaging system. Erin-Marie created a new message entity content type, based on a relationship between the game developer, service provider, and RFP, and designed it (message window) to slide out from the right directly on the home screen.
Results & Outcome
The dashboard design was a success. The goal was to use it to present to a prominent game developer for an exclusive partnership and the response was well received.
